Afrobeats Star Promises Authentic African Sound and High-Profile Collaborations
Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially confirmed that his fifth studio album is in the works and set for release in early 2025. The announcement came during an appearance on The Baller Alert Show, where the Afrobeats superstar shared exciting details about the upcoming project.
A Celebration of African Heritage
Davido, fresh off the success of his latest single Awuke featuring YG Marley, revealed that the new album will be a tribute to Africa’s rich musical legacy. He aims to blend traditional African sounds with his signature global appeal to create what he describes as “real African records.”
“My album will be coming out early next year,” he said during the interview. “It will be real African records.”
Star-Studded Collaborations
The Timeless hitmaker also teased his next single, Funds, which will feature two of Nigeria’s hottest artists: Odumodu Blvck, widely regarded as the country’s current rap king, and Chike, whom Davido affectionately compared to American R&B star Bryson Tiller for his ability to connect emotion with rhythm.
“We have another [song] coming in a couple of days, it is called Funds. I featured the current biggest Nigerian rapper, Odumodu Blvck, and the Nigerian Bryson Tiller—girls love him—his name is Chike,” Davido said.
Rooted in Home
In addition to discussing his music, Davido emphasized his decision to remain rooted in Nigeria despite the allure of relocating abroad.
“I have to stay tapped in because why run away from home when others are running there now,” he added, underscoring his pride in the growing global influence of Afrobeats.
