The Arsenal midfielder was spotted ‘liking’ a post mocking the struggling form of new Reds signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, adding fuel to a fierce rivalry.
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has found himself at the center of an online controversy after appearing to endorse a brutal social media post targeting Liverpool’s high-profile summer signings, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz. The incident has added a fresh layer of spice to the Premier League rivalry ahead of the two teams’ next fixtures.
The post in question, on Instagram, featured a clip of football pundit Roy Keane alongside a caption comparing the players’ stats. It read: “Haaland on 21 goals in 12 games. Isak and Wirtz combined have 2 goals in 19 games.” Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that Rice’s account had ‘liked’ the post, sparking a flurry of reactions across social media.

Comments ranged from shocked to amused, with one user noting, “No way Rice liked this,” while another quipped, “Rash like from Declen Rice.” The apparent endorsement did not go unnoticed for long, however, as the ‘like’ from Rice’s account appears to have since been removed.
The social media jab comes during a difficult period for Liverpool, who spent over £400 million in the summer but have now lost their last three matches against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea. Their new marquee attackers, Isak and Wirtz, have struggled to adapt, managing only a single goal and one assist between them so far.
Speaking on his own form recently, Isak acknowledged the challenges, stating, “I’m working hard… Things have been a bit tougher for us. I believe that as the team improves and things start to flow better, it will also go better for me.”
All eyes will now be on Anfield this weekend, where Isak and Wirtz will have a chance to answer their critics on the pitch as Liverpool host Manchester United.
