The Colombian winger admits he knew Harry Kane was a great scorer, but their partnership in Germany has revealed a “complete” player who totally surprised him.
Luis Diaz has lifted the lid on what it’s really like to play alongside Harry Kane, and the Colombian star admits the England captain’s all-around game has left him stunned.
Since both players joined Bayern Munich, they have formed a formidable partnership, propelling the Bundesliga giants to eight wins in all competitions this season. But for Diaz, the most impressive part has been discovering there’s so much more to Kane’s game than just finding the back of the net.
“Harry Kane! From my time at Liverpool, when he was still at Tottenham, I knew he scored a lot of goals,” Diaz told BILD. “But when I first trained with him, I thought, ‘This guy is brutal!'”
Diaz explained that it was Kane’s complete skill set that caught him off guard. “He does everything,” he raved. “He scores goals, shapes the play, and even defends. He totally surprised me. I’m very happy to be playing alongside him now.”
The stats back up the on-field chemistry, with the duo having a direct hand in 25 goals for Bayern already this season. It seems for Diaz, moving from a Premier League rival to a Bundesliga teammate has given him a whole new appreciation for one of football’s most lethal talents.
