DJ Pretty Play to Attempt 288-Hour Guinness World Record Set in Lagos

Nigerian selector targets marathon DJ title after five years of delay, promising 12 continuous days of Afrobeats and Amapiano

Princess Ntuk Williams, known professionally as DJ Pretty Play, will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Club DJ-ing when she begins a 288-hour set on March 3, 2026.

The Lagos-born DJ is aiming to surpass the current record of 244 hours and two minutes, held by Italy’s Fabrizio Morero since May 2025. If successful, she will become the first African female DJ to hold the title.

“For five years, I told myself I wasn’t ready,” Williams said. “I’m done waiting.”

The attempt will take place at Bay Lounge in Lekki Phase 1, with sets running daily from 7:00 p.m. WAT. Guinness rules permit five minutes of rest for each hour completed, which can be accumulated for short sleep breaks. Independent witnesses will document the entire attempt, and video evidence must show continuous mixing with no song repeated within a four-hour window.

Williams has performed at major events across Nigeria and internationally, blending Afrobeats, Amapiano, hip-hop and Afro-house. Her career includes sets at award ceremonies, corporate functions and concert stages, but the record attempt represents a personal milestone she said she postponed repeatedly due to fear and self-doubt.

“This isn’t about perfection,” she posted on social media. “It’s about pushing limits, leaning on faith, and trusting the process, even when it gets uncomfortable.”

Fans and fellow DJs have begun rallying behind the attempt, which runs until March 14. Details regarding live streaming and audience participation are expected in the coming days.

Guinness World Records requires strict adherence to verification protocols, including timekeeper logs, continuous camera footage and witness statements. Any break in evidence can result in disqualification.

Williams said she views the attempt as both a professional challenge and a personal reckoning.

“I can’t do this alone,” she said. “I need my supporters, friends and everyone who believes in me to stand with me.”

If successful, she will join a small group of international DJs to hold the marathon title and become the first Nigerian woman to achieve the feat.
