A father’s unanswered DM and a young artist’s unwavering dedication culminate in a debut EP and a major label dream realized.
In a story that proves destiny has a place in the music industry, mogul Don Jazzy has officially unveiled CupidSZN as the newest artist signed to his powerhouse label, Mavin Records. The announcement came with a heartfelt revelation: the 21-year-old singer’s path to the label began four years ago with a father’s faith and a direct message that was never seen.
“Four years ago… a father who believed so much in his 17-year-old talented son sent me a DM to listen to his son’s music. Unfortunately, I didn’t see that message,” Don Jazzy shared in a video post, explaining how his clogged inbox initially blocked the connection. “Two years later, he didn’t give up.”
That persistence paid off. The artist, born Stevenson Njoku Anyinachiso in Port Harcourt, kept honing his craft until “destiny still placed him on the path with Mavin.” After excelling in the prestigious Mavin Academy, he has now emerged as CupidSZN, ready to launch his debut EP, MYTH ERA.
His musical journey began after being inspired by a video of the late American artist Juice WRLD. While initially drawn to trap music, he found his true voice in the vibrant rhythms of Afrobeats, crafting a unique sound that defines his artistry.
The pursuit of this dream required immense personal commitment. CupidSZN chose to forgo university to focus on music full-time, a decision his parents initially hesitated to support. But his determination was so powerful that by 2023, his entire family had relocated to Lagos to stand behind his ambition, a testament to the strong foundation fueling his rise.
Now, with notable singles like the 2024 track ‘Service’ and the flirtatious 2025 release ‘I Want More’ already making waves, CupidSZN’s story is no longer one of a missed message, but of a dream delivered.
