Edo Governorship Election: Sam Amadi Warns Governor Obaseki Against Rigging Tactics

Political analyst claims Oshiomhole can’t win without rigging, urges vigilance from Obaseki.

As the Edo State governorship election approaches, Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has issued a cautionary message to Governor Godwin Obaseki. Amadi alleged that former governor Adams Oshiomhole, who is backing All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo, cannot win without resorting to electoral malpractice.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, Amadi advised the Edo governor to remain alert, emphasizing concerns about the role of security forces, particularly the Nigeria Police.

“In Edo election, the focus should not be much on INEC. In off-season elections, INEC comes out well. The security, especially the police, is the problem. Watch them slowly. Governor Obaseki should never close his eyes. Adams can’t win without rigging,” Amadi wrote.

His remarks highlight growing concerns about the integrity of the upcoming election and the role security agencies may play in the process.
