Inter’s strong lead is overturned as Juventus rallies with Kenan Yildiz’s late double to secure a point
In a thrilling edition of the Derby d’Italia at San Siro, Inter Milan and Juventus battled to an unforgettable 4-4 draw. The high-octane showdown saw Inter surge into a 4-2 lead, only to watch Juventus pull level late in the game thanks to substitute Kenan Yildiz’s two clutch goals.
Inter, already grappling with an injury crisis, was without several key players, including Carlos Augusto and Hakan Calhanoglu, forcing Piotr Zielinski into the playmaker role. Juventus also struggled with absences but saw Francisco Conceicao return from suspension while Weston McKennie overcame a muscular issue, allowing Yildiz to start on the bench.
The game opened with a bang when Inter capitalized on their first real chance. Benjamin Pavard’s pullback from the right found Marcus Thuram, who drew a penalty after a misstep by Juve’s Danilo. Zielinski stepped up to convert, marking his first Serie A start for Inter with a goal.
Juventus answered within five minutes, as McKennie’s assist set up Dusan Vlahovic, who found the net for his first career goal at San Siro. The momentum continued with Juve, as Francisco Conceicao’s skillful pass across the box enabled Weah to tap in from close range, putting Juventus in the lead.
Inter rallied when Henrikh Mkhitaryan, recovering from an earlier error, scored after a one-two with Thuram. Shortly after, Inter was awarded another penalty when Pierre Kalulu fouled Denzel Dumfries. Zielinski converted to restore Inter’s advantage.
The second half saw Inter nearly stretch their lead, with Dumfries missing a golden opportunity but soon redeeming himself by driving home their fourth goal from a corner. Juve pushed back, and their persistence paid off when McKennie sent Yildiz through for a finely placed shot to bring the score to 4-3. Yildiz struck again minutes later, finishing a cross from Conceicao at the back post to complete Juventus’s remarkable comeback.
This draw keeps the Serie A title race as intense as ever, with both teams displaying resilience in one of the most electrifying matches of the season.
