In total, he has now found the back of the net on 26 occasions in all competitions – with 20 coming in the top-flight.

The Norway international has scored in 11 out of his 14 Premier League games, and was once again the star of the show on his return to Yorkshire.

The victory means that City have closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal back to five points.

Haaland, who was born in Leeds when dad Alf-Inge played for the Whites, took until the 51st minute to get on the score sheet.

After Rodri broke the deadlock for the visitors just before the break, Haaland doubled the Citizens’ lead after tapping home into an empty net after Jack Grealish squared the ball to him.

Haaland has also overtaken his dad’s record of scoring more Premier League goals in 167 games fewer.

Dad Alf-Inge was in the stands to watch his two former clubs in action, where he was seen with a huge grin on his face as his son continues to break records.

Leeds threatened to stage a late comeback when Pascal Struijk pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute.

And the hosts almost got a second when substitute Joe Gelhardt went close shortly after.

But City never looked in threat, as they eased to a 3-1 victory in a scoreline that reflected Leeds.

Pep Guardiola’s side have put the pressure back on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal while also leapfrogging Newcastle back into second spot.

As for Leeds, they remain in 15th place – two points above the relegation zone.
