Europa League Final Showdown: Man United and Spurs Battle for Redemption

Amorim Admits Final is ‘All or Nothing’ as Struggling Giants Clash in Bilbao”

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that his team’s remarkable Europa League journey will mean little if they don’t defeat Tottenham in the final later this month.

The Red Devils stormed into the final with an emphatic 7-1 aggregate victory over Athletic Bilbao, capped off by a 4-1 win at Old Trafford on Thursday. But despite their European success, United’s dismal Premier League campaign—languishing in 15th—has left fans desperate for silverware.

Now, they face a resurgent Tottenham side, who also see the Europa League as their last chance to salvage a turbulent season. Spurs, just one place above United in the league, crushed Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate to secure their spot in the final.

“We Owe It to the Fans”
Amorim, visibly emotional after the match, acknowledged the weight of expectation. “It’s the least we can do for these incredible fans,” he told TNT Sports. “They’ve stood by us through a really tough season, and now we have to finish the job.”

But the pressure is already mounting. “I’m stressed just thinking about the final,” Amorim admitted. “If we don’t win, this run means nothing. But we’re happy to be here, and we’ll give everything.”

Spurs: A Familiar Foe
Tottenham have been a thorn in United’s side this season, beating them three times—twice in the league and once in the League Cup. Amorim knows his team must be at their best. “We need a full squad, a bit of luck, and to take our chances,” he said.

Both managers are under fire for their domestic struggles, and Amorim acknowledged the shared pressure. “Ange [Postecoglou] and I are in similar situations—it’s been a tough season for both clubs. But one of us will walk away with a trophy, and we’re determined to make sure it’s us.”

The final in Bilbao on May 21 promises high drama, with more than just a trophy at stake—the winner earns a coveted Champions League spot, offering a lifeline in an otherwise disappointing campaign.
