Lagos State emergency teams swiftly respond to incident, Governor’s office confirms area is safe
A section of Lagos State’s Blue Line rail track near Ejo Bridge, opposite the NEPA Station, was engulfed in flames on Saturday afternoon. According to Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the fire occurred at approximately 4:12 p.m. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Akosile shared the news on X, noting that safety and emergency personnel arrived promptly on the scene and extinguished the fire. The train line was not in service at the time of the incident, ensuring passenger safety.
“Lagosians in that area can go about their business peacefully as the situation is under control,” Akosile assured, adding that further operational updates would be provided by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
Authorities have emphasized that the incident posed no ongoing risk, and the track area is now secure for public use.
