Flick Plots Tactical Shift in Bid to Reignite Barcelona’s Fire

After back-to-back defeats, the manager is considering redeploying Marcus Rashford as a central striker to solve the team’s pressing problems from the front.

In the wake of disappointing losses to Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is reportedly preparing a tactical shake-up aimed at fixing his team’s struggling attack. According to reports, a key change being considered is moving Marcus Rashford into the central striker role.

The proposed new-look frontline would see Rashford lead the line as the number 9, flanked by Raphinha on the left and the exciting Lamine Yamal on the right, with Fermin Lopez operating in a creative role behind them. The primary goal of this reshuffle is to inject the “intensity and pressing from the front line” that defender Pau Cubarsi identified as missing after the recent defeat.

However, Flick’s plans are currently on hold, as all three of the intended wide players—Raphinha, Yamal, and Lopez—are currently recovering from injuries. The club is hopeful they will be ready after the upcoming international break but is cautious about rushing their returns and risking a setback.

While Flick remains confident in the system that brought success last season, he acknowledges that fresh solutions are needed to address the team’s current struggles and get their campaign back on track.
