Daughter of human rights lawyer Femi Falana debunks claims of bribery and corruption, threatens legal action against VeryDarkMan.
Folakemi Falana, daughter of prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, has strongly denied recent accusations involving her father, her brother, rapper Falz, and Nigerian socialite Bobrisky. The allegations, brought forward by social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM), suggest that the Falanas were involved in a bribery scheme to secure special treatment for Bobrisky while in prison.
In an Instagram statement, Folakemi refuted the claims, emphasizing that her father had no interactions with Bobrisky. She clarified that Bobrisky had reached out to Falz, as he did with several other celebrities, asking for financial assistance to secure a place in the VIP section of prison, not for a presidential pardon.
Folakemi also highlighted her family’s longstanding work on presidential pardons, noting that Falana & Falana, their law firm, has been offering such services free of charge since 2016. She shared documents to support this, condemning the accusations as baseless and expressing frustration at those who believed the false claims.
“For the record, anyone can write the president to request a pardon for any convicted person in Nigeria. You don’t even need to be a lawyer,” she stated. “Bobrisky never approached anyone in my family or our firm for a presidential pardon.”
Folakemi also addressed VDM’s accusations that Falz was involved in bribery and even insinuations of homosexuality and an affair with Bobrisky. She labeled these allegations as “wild” and “ridiculous,” further threatening legal action against VDM for refusing to retract his statements.
Folakemi ended her statement with a clear message: “Seeing as you have refused to do the needful, @verydarkblackman, see you in court.”
