Folarin Balogun Firmly Rejects Loan Move from Arsenal in Summer Transfer Window

Young forward Folarin Balogun has made it clear that he will not be leaving Arsenal on loan during the upcoming summer transfer window. The 21-year-old has been garnering significant interest after an impressive loan spell at Stade Reims, where he scored 21 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions last season. Although Arsenal is reportedly open to selling Balogun if their £30 million valuation is met, the player has emphasized his commitment to staying at the club.

AC Milan and Napoli are among the clubs linked with a potential move for Balogun, who recently switched his international allegiance to represent the United States. Currently away with the US national team for the Concacaf Nations League, Balogun was asked about his future at the club level.

“I’m not sure about the discussions that are going to take place,” he stated. “I’m not sure what’s going to happen. But I’m just committed to now; I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family. What I can say is that I definitely won’t go on loan again.”

While Balogun is under contract with Arsenal until 2025, he has hinted at the possibility of leaving this summer. In a recent interview, he acknowledged his contractual obligation to return to Arsenal after the loan spell but expressed uncertainty about the future. Balogun mentioned that conversations between himself and the club during the summer will determine the next steps.

“There’s no door that’s closed,” Balogun said. “Of course, I have had a good year here, and to a lot of people, it makes sense for me to come back here. So, yeah, I mean, I don’t know what the future will bring.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta played a crucial role in Balogun signing his current contract with the club in April 2021. Arteta holds a positive opinion of the young striker; however, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah already at his disposal in the attacking department, the competition for playing time is fierce.
