Star-studded movie set to premiere December 13, 2024, as Akindele targets N5 billion milestone.
Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is poised to make cinematic history with her latest project, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which is set to premiere in cinemas on December 13, 2024. Known for her trailblazing success in Nollywood, Akindele has expressed confidence that the film will break her personal box office record by earning a staggering N5 billion in ticket sales.
Speaking at an Exhibitor Soirée, the celebrated actress shared her optimism, saying, “We can beat N5 billion; I have faith.” This ambitious goal builds on her reputation for innovative marketing strategies and extensive promotional efforts, which have consistently drawn audiences to her films.
A Call to Combat Piracy
Akindele also took the opportunity to address the persistent issue of piracy, reflecting on its impact on her previous film, A Tribe Called Judah. She pleaded for vigilance to protect Everybody Loves Jenifa from similar setbacks.
“I plead with you guys, I know things are hard now, but I want to beg you to be security conscious,” she said. “People use their phones to film. Remember what happened to us last year with A Tribe Called Judah? Please, let’s be very careful and vigilant. This is our movie. We want to make money from it. Imagine what we would have made if A Tribe Called Judah wasn’t pirated.”
Akindele added, “This is another opportunity. Please protect this film for me. No phones. We had to record a video to tell people, no recordings.”
Anticipation Builds for Star-Studded Cast
While the trailer for Everybody Loves Jenifa has yet to be released, Akindele and her team have already launched promotional campaigns to generate excitement. The film boasts a stellar cast, including industry heavyweights such as Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, Bisola Aiyeola, Patience Ozokwo, Chimezie Imo, Jackie Appiah, Folarin Falana (Falz), and Isaac Olayiwola (popularly known as Layi Wasabi).
Akindele’s fans and the Nollywood community are eagerly awaiting the film, which promises to be a major milestone in the actress’s illustrious career. If her ambitious target is achieved, it will further cement her status as a Nollywood icon and a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
