Captain vents frustration at teammates following 4-4 draw with Bournemouth in “madness” at Old Trafford.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was left seething at full-time after his side squandered multiple leads in a chaotic 4-4 draw with Bournemouth on Monday night, a result that further dented their top-four hopes.
Fernandes, who scored a stunning 77th-minute free-kick to level the match at 3-3, cut a furious figure after Bournemouth’s late equalizer. In footage widely shared on social media, the Portuguese midfielder was seen passionately remonstrating with teammate Casemiro and gesturing in clear frustration as the team walked off the pitch.
“It was absolute madness,” said Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville in reaction to the match. “It was a game that went punch for punch… I could live with the way Man Utd played, but what you can’t get away from is that it is seven points dropped in their last three games at home.”
The match itself was a rollercoaster. United led 2-1 at halftime thanks to goals from Amad Diallo and Casemiro, but Bournemouth surged ahead early in the second half. Fernandes’ brilliant set-piece and a quick finish from Matheus Cunha then looked to have secured a dramatic comeback win for United at 4-3, only for Bournemouth substitute Eli Junior Kroupi to silence Old Trafford with an 84th-minute leveler.
Goalkeeper Senne Lammens was United’s late hero, denying David Brooks twice in stoppage time to preserve a single point.
The draw leaves United in sixth place, narrowly ahead of Liverpool on goal difference. For manager Rúben Amorim, the inability to hold onto leads—a recurring theme this season—has become a major concern. As the dust settles on a Premier League classic, the image of a furious Fernandes captured the growing discontent within the camp after another costly stumble at home.
