Turkish Giants Pursue Nigerian Striker After Failed Moves to Chelsea and PSG
In a surprising turn of events, Galatasaray is reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen on loan, according to sensational reports from both France and Italy. The 25-year-old Nigerian international had been linked with late summer moves to Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but both deals fell through, leaving Osimhen’s future in doubt.
Initially expected to remain in limbo until at least January, Osimhen now appears to be on the brink of a move to the Turkish Super Lig. According to renowned journalists Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrice Hawkins, Galatasaray officials are traveling to Naples today to continue discussions, with Osimhen reportedly open to the loan move.
Osimhen, who has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli, seems to have played his last game for the Italian club. Despite the closure of the summer transfer window across Europe’s top five leagues, Turkish clubs can still conduct transfers until September 13, giving Galatasaray a chance to finalize the deal.
The potential move comes after Napoli manager Antonio Conte confirmed that Osimhen will not be re-integrated into the first-team squad following his failed transfer attempts. With Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku arriving on a permanent deal and taking Osimhen’s No.9 shirt, Conte made it clear that the Nigerian striker is no longer part of Napoli’s plans.
“No player will be reintegrated,” Conte stated. “Those who are out of the project will remain out of the project. We made our choices and work in one direction all together.”
With Galatasaray’s interest intensifying, a last-minute move to Turkey could offer Osimhen a fresh start after a turbulent summer.
