Turkish Club Gains Confidence in January Move as Chelsea and Saudi Clubs Show Interest
Galatasaray are reportedly preparing a substantial €50 million bid to make Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s move permanent in the January transfer window, according to Turkish outlet Sozcu. Currently on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has impressed with four goals and four assists in just seven appearances, and sources suggest he is now more open to a long-term stay with the Turkish giants.
Though Osimhen’s contract allows for a potential exit in January, Galatasaray is hopeful of retaining the 24-year-old as they aim to finalize a deal with Napoli. This news, however, could frustrate Chelsea, who have been eyeing the forward to bolster their attacking options since the summer. Chelsea had tried to bring in Osimhen late in the transfer window but were unable to finalize the move, leaving the door open for Galatasaray.
With Chelsea currently sixth in the Premier League under new manager Enzo Maresca, they may still look to pursue Osimhen, despite the good form of Nicolas Jackson, who has tallied six goals and three assists in nine matches. The Blues reportedly see Osimhen as the high-profile striker they need to compete at the top level.
Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League clubs are also monitoring Osimhen, but the Nigerian international is said to prefer staying in Europe. Despite his vital role in Napoli’s historic 2023 Scudetto win, the club’s decision to replace him with Romelu Lukaku signals that Osimhen has no future in Naples. With Napoli currently leading Serie A, they appear ready to part ways with their former star, leaving Osimhen’s next chapter up for grabs.
