Gossip: Man Utd £4m shy of target price as 10-goal Serie A striker becomes wanted man

Manchester United are just inches away from a massive deal for one of their key targets while Dusan Vlahovic is the talk of Europe.

HAVE AN ONANA
Manchester United are within touching distance of a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, with Inter wanting £51m for the Cameroon stopper and United getting very close indeed by offering close to £47m. As we know from previous Manchester United transfer negotiations, that probably means that they will eventually offer £55m. They are not very good at this.

Italian outlet Calciomercato claims that the deal will be done by the weekend as personal terms are already agreed. Both clubs want to move onto their next targets, which for Manchester United means agreeing a deal with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat. Inter have a whole raft of targets, one of which is a permanent move for Romelu Lukaku.

HENDERSON RELISH
‘Nottingham Forest are locked in talks with Manchester United over a deal for Dean Henderson and are also considering a move for Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa,’ say the Daily Telegraph. Wow. Why have one goalkeeper when you can have two? Wolves are said to be willing to sell Sa after a less-than-brilliant season (and because they are pretty much willing to sell anybody right now).

Forest are also working on outgoings – that’s a given when you have a 427-man squad – and Jonjo Shelvey, Remo Freuler, Cheikhou Kouyaté, Emmanuel Dennis, Sam Surridge and Steve Cook are available for transfer. Saudi Arabia is presumably in speed-dial.

VLAHOVIC BATTLE HEATS UP
With Bayern Munich so far struggling to reach an agreement with Tottenham about Harry Kane, and Manchester City making it clear that Julian Alvarez is not an option (they reportedly ‘laughed’ at the idea mooted on the back page of The Sun), their search for a striker is taking them to Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.

Vlahovic has also been strongly linked to Chelsea but it is PSG who are pushing hardest for the Serb, with Le Parisien looking towards him to be their central striker. That’s a hell of a lot of interest in a striker who scored 10 Serie A goals last season.
