According to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern Munich has intensified their efforts to secure Alonso’s signature, potentially edging out Liverpool in the process.
Despite the keen interest from both Bayern Munich and Liverpool, Bayern’s approach has been characterized by patience, respecting Leverkusen’s position as Alonso aims to lead the team to Bundesliga glory, alongside competing in the DFB Pokal and Europa League. Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports News revealed, “Our clear information is that if he leaves Leverkusen this summer, he will join Bayern Munich and not Liverpool.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool faces contract negotiations with key players as Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold enter the final year of their contracts. While Salah and Van Dijk’s futures remain uncertain, the situation surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s renewal has been complicated by interest from Real Madrid.
Reports suggest that Real Madrid has initiated discussions to potentially secure Alexander-Arnold’s services either this summer or on a free transfer in 2025.
