Guardiola Labels Arsenal Best in the World as City Face Title Chase

ity boss backs his “extraordinary” squad to recover from painful week, with new defender Guehi set for debut.

Pep Guardiola has framed Manchester City’s title challenge as a pursuit of the planet’s finest team, offering a full-throated defense of his players after a week he will want to forget.

The City manager saw his side outplayed by Manchester United last weekend before suffering a stunning Champions League defeat to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt. Without a Premier League win this year, City now stare at a seven-point gap to leaders Arsenal.

Yet, Guardiola struck a defiant note. He lavished praise on Arsenal, calling them “absolutely, the best team right now in the world,” pointing to their dominance across all competitions. But his focus quickly turned to his own squad’s spirit.

“Hopefully we can be close and getting better, and have the chance to catch them,” he said. “I have an extraordinary team, an extraordinary group of players. And we are all together. I don’t have any doubts about that.”

City’s stumble has aligned with injuries to defensive pillars Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol. Help arrives in the form of new signing Marc Guehi, with the England defender set to make his debut against Wolves on Saturday.

“It’s going to help us because the experience of Mark is exceptional,” Guardiola added, acknowledging the timely boost. While Dias, Gvardiol, and Nico Gonzalez remain out, midfielder Matheus Nunes may return from illness as City seek to reignite their campaign.
