Serhou Guirassy’s remarkable scoring streak shows no sign of slowing down. The Borussia Dortmund striker netted for an eighth consecutive Bundesliga match on Saturday, setting his team on the path to a straightforward 2-0 win over a Heidenheim side that played most of the match with ten men.
The hosts’ already difficult task of securing their first points of the season became a near-impossible challenge midway through the first half. Forward Budu Zivzivadze was shown a straight red card for a dangerous, studs-up challenge on Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, leaving Heidenheim with a numerical disadvantage for over an hour.
Capitalizing on the extra space, Dortmund soon took the lead. Just as Heidenheim hoped to reach halftime only a goal down, Maximilian Beier dealt a crushing blow, tapping in from close range deep into stoppage time after a clever setup from Karim Adeyemi.
The second half saw a natural drop in intensity from the dominant visitors, who seemed to conserve energy with an eye on their Champions League opener against Juventus in midweek. Heidenheim managed a brief spark when a powerful long-range effort from Arijon Ibrahimović forced a fine save from goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, but a comeback never truly materialized.
The result extends Dortmund’s impressive unbeaten league run to 11 games, a streak dating back to last season. For Heidenheim, the search for a first point continues, as they remain the only team in the Bundesliga yet to get off the mark this term.
