Barcelona manager wants to strengthen squad after historic treble, hints at need for attacking depth
Fresh off winning an impressive domestic treble, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has opened up about his transfer plans for the summer window – and his comments will surely excite fans hoping for new signings.
The German tactician, who guided Barça to La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup glory in his debut season, admitted he already has specific targets in mind. “I have a clear idea of what I want for the future,” Flick told reporters. “I’ll discuss it with Deco because we need to dedicate proper time to this planning.”
While celebrating his team’s “fantastic season,” Flick hinted at areas needing improvement, particularly in attack. His remarks come as Barcelona continue to be linked with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa.
“We can’t afford to lose key players,” Flick emphasized. “If we can strengthen, that’s always an option. Right now we’re very dependent on Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. Maybe we need similar players to provide solutions when they’re unavailable.”
The former Bayern Munich boss also highlighted the club’s famed La Masia academy as an important resource, saying: “The squad is quite balanced and we have many good young players coming through.” His comments suggest Barcelona may blend experienced signings with youth promotion this summer.
With Flick and sporting director Deco set to begin transfer talks in earnest, Barcelona fans can expect an interesting window as the club looks to build on their historic season. Whether Rashford or other targets arrive remains to be seen, but one thing is clear – Flick knows exactly what he wants.
