The former Barcelona star draws parallels with the iconic 2011 squad after a dominant week for the Catalan giants
Thierry Henry, former Barcelona striker and current CBS analyst, has heaped praise on Hansi Flick’s Barcelona team, believing they are primed for a season filled with silverware. Henry’s enthusiasm follows Barcelona’s thrilling week, where they bested Sevilla, Bayern Munich, and topped it off with a resounding El Clasico victory over Real Madrid.
“It’s like watching Barcelona of old,” Henry remarked. “Barcelona have become a team on a mission, and no one seems able to stand in their way. After Bayern, it was Real Madrid’s turn,” he continued, referencing how the team defeated their key rivals in swift succession.
Henry drew comparisons between Barcelona’s current roster and the club’s 2011 glory days: “Lamine Yamal plays like Messi, Raphinha has that Ronaldinho spark, and Pedri mirrors Iniesta. It feels like the Barcelona we all admired.”
Currently six points clear at the top of the table, Barcelona appears determined to shake off last season’s lack of trophies, with Henry betting they’ll secure multiple titles by the end of this campaign.
