How Chelsea could line up with Victor Osimhen in a new-look squad for the 2024/25

Club Linked with Star Striker Victor Osimhen Amid Busy Transfer Window

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is set to introduce a new-look squad for the 2024/25 season, with the club actively pursuing several high-profile transfer targets, including prolific striker Victor Osimhen.

This summer, Chelsea has already secured the signings of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, and goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. However, the club remains in the market for additional talent, with Osimhen’s potential arrival being a major talking point. The Nigerian striker’s agent has hinted at a possible loan deal with an option to buy, which would significantly bolster Chelsea’s attacking options.

Osimhen, who has excelled at Napoli, scored 31 goals across all competitions in the 2022/23 season and added 17 goals last season. His inclusion in the squad would provide a huge boost for Maresca, complementing Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer, who scored 14 and 22 Premier League goals respectively.

If Osimhen joins Chelsea, he would likely lead the attack, supported by Palmer and Christopher Nkunku, who is expected to have a strong season following an injury-hit campaign.

Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo could form a midfield double pivot, with Reece James and Marc Cucurella providing width from the wing-back positions.

In defense, a three-man backline featuring Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Levi Colwill is anticipated. New signing Jorgensen, brought in from Villarreal for around £20 million, is expected to replace Robert Sanchez as the starting goalkeeper.

Notably, Ben Chilwell and Enzo Fernandez might not feature in Maresca’s preferred lineup. Chilwell has been linked with a move away from the club, while Fernandez has been embroiled in controversy following a controversial video involving the French national team.

Chelsea’s pre-season preparations continue, with Maresca experimenting with various formations and line-ups as he aims to guide the club to success in the upcoming campaign.
