I Am HIV Negative – Nollywood Star Dayo Amusa Fights Back Against False Health Claims (video)

Actress Demands Accountability After Viral Video Falsely Labels Her HIV-Positive

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has fiercely denied false claims from a viral video that wrongly listed her among Nigerian celebrities allegedly living with HIV. The actress took to Instagram to set the record straight after content creator Olaoluwa Segun circulated a baseless video naming her and veteran actor Hanks Anuku as HIV-positive.

In an emotional video statement, Amusa expressed shock and frustration over the damaging rumor, clarifying that she is HIV-negative. She revealed that the false claim stemmed from a 2019 post she made about HIV awareness—a campaign urging people to get tested and seek treatment if needed. Segun allegedly twisted this years later, using it to spread misinformation without verification.

“I’m not going to let this slide,” Amusa declared. “I’m going to make you a scapegoat—not because I enjoy it, but to teach you and other reckless content creators a lesson. If you’re going to make headlines, verify your facts before putting people on the spot.”

Under mounting pressure, Segun issued a public apology, admitting his video was false. He acknowledged that while Amusa had spoken about HIV awareness in the past, she never claimed to be positive. Taking responsibility, he confirmed the video’s removal and promised stricter fact-checking in the future.

The incident has reignited discussions about the dangers of unchecked online rumors, with Amusa standing firm against defamation while advocating for responsible journalism.
