The Manchester United manager confessed to his own uncertainty as his team seeks a rare consecutive win, with key players absent for the trip to West London.
In a startlingly honest assessment, Ruben Amorim has admitted that even he “doesn’t know” which version of his Manchester United team will appear against Brentford on Saturday.
The confession comes as the Red Devils aim to secure back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time in Amorim’s ten-month reign, fresh off a win against Chelsea. This long-running inconsistency has left fans and, now openly, the manager himself in a state of doubt.
“It’s normal that the fans don’t know what is going to happen in the next game,” Amorim said. “To be honest, I have an idea, but I don’t know how it’s going to be and I’m the manager of the team.”
He insists the solution is to treat every match as a final. “The best way of dealing with that is approaching every game like it’s the last one. I understand the feeling of the fans, so let’s start changing that feeling.”
The quest for consistency will be hampered by several absences. Amad Diallo is away on compassionate leave following a family bereavement. “We are giving all the support to Amad,” Amorim confirmed. The team will also be without the injured Noussair Mazraoui and the suspended Casemiro.
The match is a homecoming for summer signing Bryan Mbeumo, whom Amorim praised effusively. “It’s really important for everything he has been doing. The light he brings to the dressing room… I’m more than happy with Bryan.”
Despite the hope sparked by the Chelsea win, Amorim’s frank admission underscores the significant challenge that remains for his unpredictable United side.
