City forward speaks out after VAR decides against punishing Fulham’s Kenny Tete in Etihad clash
Antoine Semenyo has broken his silence on the bizarre incident that threatened to overshadow Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Fulham, revealing he felt the full force of Kenny Tete’s apparent hair-pull during a first-half tussle.
The Ghana international went down clutching his head after a coming together with the Fulham defender, with replays suggesting Tete had grabbed a handful of Semenyo’s hair. VAR took a look. VAR moved on.

“I felt it,” Semenyo told TNT Sports after the final whistle. “I thought it was [Raul] Jimenez that did it, but you tell me it was Tete. I told the ref straight away, but he said there wasn’t enough [evidence], so they just left it as that.”
The decision—or lack of one—left City players baffled and Semenyo nursing a sore head, but it did little to derail the forward’s evening. The January signing from Bournemouth added another goal to his growing collection, continuing a remarkably smooth transition to life at the top of the table.
And what a table it is. Semenyo is experiencing a Premier League title race for the first time, and he’s clearly relishing every moment of it.
“It’s new to me, but I’m enjoying it,” he said. “There’s a lot of pressure and a lot of demands, but I feel we’ve got the players to do it. There are 12 or 13 games to go, so we just need to keep going.”
With Arsenal in their sights and the gap now down to three points, Semenyo and City are doing exactly that. Hair-pulls and all.
