Frattesi’s Dramatic Winner Caps Off 4-3 Epic at San Siro as Nerazzurri Book Spot in Munich Showpiece
Inter Milan are heading back to the Champions League final after a heart-stopping 4-3 extra-time victory over Barcelona at San Siro, sealing a 7-6 aggregate triumph in one of the most electrifying semifinals in recent memory. Davide Frattesi’s composed finish in the 111th minute sent the home crowd into raptures, capping off a rollercoaster night that had everything—brilliant goals, stunning comebacks, and edge-of-the-seat drama.
The Nerazzurri, who last reached the final in 2023, looked in control early as captain Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring in the 21st minute, tapping into an empty net after Denzel Dumfries beat the offside trap. Just before halftime, Inter doubled their lead when Martínez won a penalty after a VAR review, and Hakan Çalhanoğlu coolly converted from the spot.
But Barcelona, refusing to go down without a fight, staged a breathtaking second-half comeback. Eric García’s sweetly struck volley and Dani Olmo’s header—both set up by Gerard Martín—leveled the tie before Raphinha thought he had won it for Barça in the 87th minute, smashing home a rebound to send the traveling fans wild.
Yet Inter, showing the resilience that has defined their season, struck back in stoppage time. Dumfries, a constant menace all night, whipped in a cross that Francesco Acerbi deftly lifted into the roof of the net, forcing extra time.

The decisive moment came when substitute Mehdi Taremi laid the ball off for Frattesi, who curled a perfect shot into the bottom corner. Barcelona threw everything forward—Robert Lewandowski headed over, and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal forced a late save—but Inter held firm to secure their place in the May 31 final in Munich.
Dumfries, who was instrumental across both legs with two goals and two assists, summed up the emotions after the final whistle: “It was a crazy match—seven goals, unbelievable drama. We fought until the end, and now we have our chance to make history. Two years ago, we lost the final. This time, we’re going all the way.”
Now, Simone Inzaghi’s men await the winner of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, knowing one more heroic performance could bring the Champions League trophy back to Milan for the first time since 2010.
