It’s Embarrassing : Haaland Apologizes After Man City Stunned in Norway

Star Striker Takes Responsibility as Defensive Woes Deepen in Shock 3-1 Loss to Bodo/Glimt

A visibly frustrated Erling Haaland branded Manchester City’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Norwegian side FK Bodo/Glimt as “embarrassing” and issued a public apology to the club’s supporters.

The loss in freezing conditions marks City’s second consecutive defeat, coming just days after their 2-0 Manchester derby setback, and severely damages their hopes of securing a top-eight finish and automatic knockout-stage qualification.

“We did our best, but there’s something that’s missing,” Haaland told TNT Sports. “I take full responsibility… We’re Manchester City. We can’t go around and not win games. It can’t be like this.”

The Norwegian striker, who has scored just once in his last eight appearances, missed a critical close-range chance in the first half with the score at 2-0. “I apologise to every single supporter,” he said. “In the end, it’s embarrassing. Bodo played some incredible football, and in the end, it’s deserved.”

Manager Pep Guardiola was less critical of his players but acknowledged the difficult circumstances, including a second-half red card for midfielder Rodri. “We started pretty well,” Guardiola said. “But when you concede two goals so quick, it’s more difficult.” He highlighted a growing injury crisis in defense, with John Stones and Josko Gvardiol among those sidelined, as a key factor in his team’s vulnerability.

The match unraveled quickly for City. After a missed early header, Bodo/Glimt struck twice in two minutes before halftime through Kasper Hogh. A stunning solo goal from Jens Petter Hauge made it 3-0 after the break. Rayan Cherki’s reply offered brief hope, but Rodri’s dismissal for two quick yellow cards killed any chance of a comeback.

The result leaves City likely needing a win in their final match against Galatasaray to have any hope of a top-eight finish, and they will have to do it without the suspended Rodri. For Bodo/Glimt, the famous victory throws open the door to a surprise playoff place.
