Iyabo Ojo Slams VeryDarkMan as Manipulative Hypocrite in Fiery Clapback

Actress Defends Stance on Mohbad Case, Accuses Critic of Two-Faced Behavior

Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has launched a scathing attack on controversial social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, branding him a “hypocrite” and urging Nigerians to stop giving him credibility.

The actress’s outburst came in response to VeryDarkMan’s claims that she reneged on an agreement to publicly apologize to musician Naira Marley and his associate Sam Larry over her online criticisms following Mohbad’s tragic death. The blogger alleged the supposed truce was brokered during a meeting at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC), attended by Ojo, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Tonto Dikeh, and their lawyers.

But in an impassioned Instagram video on Sunday, Ojo dismissed the allegations as outright lies, accusing VeryDarkMan of manipulation and deceit.

“I Stand By My Convictions” – Iyabo Ojo

The actress defended her decision to speak out, citing disturbing evidence that emerged after Mohbad’s passing—including videos of Sam Larry allegedly mocking the late singer and footage of physical altercations. These, she said, solidified her belief in the bullying accusations against Naira Marley and his crew.

“VeryDarkMan, I saw your video, and I know exactly why you made it,” Ojo fired back. “I’m sure the NCCC has informed you that I’ve petitioned them, so you resorted to your usual manipulative games. But let me make this clear—I am a wise woman. I know when to fight, when to listen, and when to speak, unlike you, who flip-flops with every trend.”

She further revealed that she was invited by the NCCC while preparing to travel to Tanzania for fellow actress Priscilla Ojo’s wedding. “I had never even met Naira Marley before—I only promoted his music on my platform out of goodwill,” she stated.

A Mother’s Outrage Over Mohbad’s Death

Ojo explained that her anger was triggered by a video of Naira Marley dancing shortly after Mohbad’s death, as well as footage of Sam Larry harassing both Mohbad and fellow artist Zlatan Ibile.

“When I saw those videos, I couldn’t stay silent,” she said. “As a mother and a concerned citizen, I used my platform to demand justice. If that makes me a target for people like VeryDarkMan, so be it. But Nigerians should see through his hypocrisy—he thrives on controversy, not truth.”

The heated exchange has reignited debates on social media, with many users split between supporting Ojo’s activism and questioning the motives of online critics like VeryDarkMan. One thing is certain: this war of words is far from over.
