Jadon Sancho Close to Manchester United Exit in Potential PSG Swap Deal for Manuel Ugarte

Negotiations Underway as Both Clubs Consider Strategic Player and Wage Adjustments

Jadon Sancho, Manchester United’s winger, is reportedly on the verge of leaving Old Trafford, with Paris Saint-Germain engaged in discussions over a potential swap deal involving midfielder Manuel Ugarte, as per recent reports.

After a rocky period with manager Erik ten Hag last September, Sancho has managed to get back into his good graces. The 24-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he recaptured some of his best form and helped propel his former club to the Champions League final.

Despite this reconciliation, Sancho’s departure from the Red Devils appears imminent. Manchester United are seeking £50 million from PSG for the England international, a decrease from the £73 million paid for his transfer in 2021. Meanwhile, PSG is asking for a similar fee for their 23-year-old midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who was signed from Sporting for £51 million last year and is reportedly high on United’s wish list.

The clubs are exploring the possibility of a swap deal, with both parties attempting to “unlock a deal” that would see Sancho in Paris and Ugarte in Manchester. This could include Sancho joining PSG on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. Talks have been ongoing for several weeks, and the interest has also extended to Sancho’s teammate Marcus Rashford, with PSG maintaining a longstanding interest in the 26-year-old forward.

Manchester United is keen to offload Sancho to free up wages and alleviate concerns over Profit and Sustainability regulations. Sancho had a standout performance in last season’s Champions League semi-finals, which notably knocked PSG out of the tournament, making him an attractive prospect for the French giants.

Despite progress in negotiations, the exact structure of the potential deal remains uncertain. Erik ten Hag is personally invested in bringing Ugarte to Old Trafford, as the Uruguayan midfielder is considered a primary option to strengthen the Red Devils’ midfield.

Ugarte’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly in England, discussing the possible transfer to Manchester United while also engaging in talks with Chelsea about Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix. Fabrizio Romano provided an update, noting that Ugarte “is insisting a lot for a Man Utd move.”

Manchester United prioritizes signing a defensive midfielder but needs to offload several players, including Scott McTominay. Interest in McTominay has come from clubs like Fulham, whom United will face in their Premier League opener, and Turkish club Galatasaray, though neither club has met the Red Devils’ £30 million valuation.
