Jadon Sancho Opens Up About Manchester United Exit and Joyous Return to Borussia Dortmund

Star Forward Discloses Details of His Loan Move and Reveals Pre-Season Conversation with Marco Reus

In a recent interview, English forward Jadon Sancho shed light on his departure from Manchester United as he embarks on a loan stint with Borussia Dortmund. The 23-year-old returned to Signal Iduna Park in January after a falling-out with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag led to his exclusion from first-team proceedings for four months.

Sancho’s initial move to Manchester United in 2021 for £75 million proved to be less than stellar, with the player contributing only 12 goals and eight assists across 82 appearances during his spell with the Premier League club.

In an interview with Dortmund’s YouTube channel, Sancho revealed that the idea of his return to Borussia Dortmund was first discussed with Marco Reus during a pre-season friendly between Manchester United and Dortmund in July. Sancho recounted, “That Vegas clip, he [Reus] was telling me to come back to Dortmund. That’s inside information, and he said ‘Whenever you’re ready bro, I’m here.'”

Expressing his connection with the club, Sancho added, “I’ve always had it in my mind that if it didn’t work out somewhere, BVB is a place I know, and everyone knows me inside out. It’s good to know the club and the players back me.”

Since his return to Dortmund, Sancho has already registered two assists in his first two appearances, and he expressed his delight at being back in familiar surroundings, describing the move as bringing “happiness, enjoyment, fun, and energy.”

Sancho’s connection with Borussia Dortmund remains strong, and he emphasized the significance of the club in his life, stating, “BVB will always be part of my life, and no matter what I do in my future, the club will always have a soft spot in my heart.”

While Sancho is expected to secure a permanent move away from Manchester United in the next transfer window, the destination remains uncertain. Despite his affection for Borussia Dortmund, it remains to be seen if his return will result in a permanent move to the German club.
