Italian Giants Sound Out Reds While Still Hopeful on Kolo Muani Deal
Juventus have made discreet inquiries about Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez as they prepare contingency plans for their summer rebuild, according to reports from Italy. The Turin club’s primary focus remains securing Randal Kolo Muani’s permanent signing from PSG, but negotiations have hit complications.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà reveals Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has contacted Liverpool to understand the terms of a potential deal for Núñez. The Uruguayan international has been made available for transfer after two inconsistent seasons at Anfield following his €100 million move from Benfica in 2022.
The 25-year-old forward, who rejected lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia earlier this summer, is understood to be keen on staying in European football. However, his modest return of just seven goals last season across all competitions has left Liverpool open to offers as new manager Arne Slot reshapes his squad.
Juventus’ interest comes after Napoli previously explored a move for Núñez before baulking at Liverpool’s €50 million valuation. The Bianconeri view the physically imposing striker as an alternative should their protracted negotiations with PSG for Kolo Muani ultimately fail.
Kolo Muani himself remains Juventus’ top priority after the French international expressed his desire to stay in Turin following his loan spell last season.

But with PSG driving a hard bargain, sporting director Giuntoli is wisely exploring other options in what promises to be a pivotal summer for the Serie A giants’ attacking line.
Núñez’s potential arrival would represent both a gamble and opportunity for Juventus. While his Premier League struggles are well-documented – 40 goals in 143 appearances – his physical attributes and work rate could potentially flourish in Serie A’s less frenetic environment. The coming weeks will reveal whether this initial inquiry develops into a serious pursuit as Juventus look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
