A painful defeat to Lazio proves the final straw for the Croatian coach, who leaves the Italian giants languishing in eighth place.
In a move that surprises few given their recent form, Juventus have fired manager Igor Tudor after a dismal run of eight games without a victory. The decision comes hot on the heels of a 1-0 defeat to Lazio on Sunday, which sealed the Croatian’s fate after just seven months in charge.
The club announced the news in a formal statement, thanking Tudor and his staff for their “professionalism and dedication” but stating that a change was necessary. Massimo Brambilla, a coach from within the club’s system, will step in to temporarily lead the team for their crucial midweek match against Udinese.
Tudor’s tenure began promisingly after he took over in March, steering the two-time Champions League winners to a solid fourth-place finish last season. However, the current campaign has unraveled dramatically. The team has managed only five draws and three losses in their last eight outings across all competitions, a streak that has seen them plummet to eighth in the Serie A table and fall six points behind league leaders Napoli.
Fans have grown increasingly frustrated, with the excitement of a 4-3 win over Inter Milan in September feeling like a distant memory. Since that last victory, the team has stumbled through a series of disappointing results, including a thrilling but winless 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund and, most recently, a string of three consecutive defeats.
The club now turns to Brambilla to steady the ship as they search for a permanent solution to revive their faltering season.
