Veteran Nigerian movie star Kanayo O Kanayo has expressed his disappointment with the contestants of the popular reality TV show Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) for their inability to correctly answer general knowledge questions.
In recent episodes of the show, videos have circulated on social media showcasing the housemates struggling to provide accurate responses to what many viewers consider to be basic knowledge questions. Some of the questions posed to the contestants included, “What is the body’s primary source of energy?”, “What color is a giraffe’s tongue?”, “Whose face is on the 100 naira bill?”, and “Which body is responsible for making laws in Nigeria?”
Kanayo O Kanayo did not hold back in his criticism of the show, expressing his frustration over the significant amount of money invested in individuals whom he believes lack basic intellectual knowledge. The actor asserted that the resources could have been better utilized to support educational initiatives.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Kanayo O Kanayo voiced his concerns: “Wasted 120 million on INCORRECT PEOPLE who are only correct with their bumbum. Money that should have been channeled to a CORRECT educational program.”
The actor’s comments reflect a broader sentiment within the public domain, where viewers and fans of the show have questioned the selection criteria for BBNaija housemates and the educational value that the program offers to its audience.
As the debate continues, Kanayo O Kanayo’s critique has ignited discussions about the role of reality television in society and the potential consequences of prioritizing entertainment over education.
