Kano State Police have apprehended two primary suspects allegedly responsible for the brutal attack on Nigerian rapper Lil Kesh last month, in a case that involved attempted murder and armed robbery at the artist’s Lagos residence.
The suspects, identified as Mathew Adewole (25) and Mukhtar Muhammad (31), were arrested in Kano’s Na’ibawa Quarters following an intelligence operation. According to police reports, Adewole confessed to breaking into the singer’s home, inflicting a deep cut on his neck, and forcibly transferring ₦2.12 million from Lil Kesh’s account to Muhammad’s account using the victim’s mobile phone.
The attack occurred on August 19th at the artist’s residence in Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, leaving the musician with serious injuries. Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna stated that the arrest demonstrates the force’s commitment to leveraging intelligence and community cooperation in fighting crime.
“Mathew Adewole confessed to attacking Lil-Kesh, causing serious injuries, including a deep cut on the victim’s neck, in a bid to commit armed robbery and murder,” Haruna revealed in an official statement.
The suspects have been transferred to Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution. Kano State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori praised the operatives for their diligence and the public for their cooperation in the successful operation.
The arrest brings hope for justice for the popular musician, whose real name is Keshinro Ololade, nearly a month after the traumatic home invasion that shocked fans and the music industry alike.
