Keane Blasts Man United Over Carrick and Evans Decisions

Former Captain Criticizes “Chaotic” Decision-Making and Evans’ Sudden Coaching Return

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on the club’s decision to appoint Michael Carrick as temporary manager, calling it “concerning” and citing it as the latest example of “chaos” at Old Trafford.

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of Carrick’s first match in charge against Manchester City this Saturday, Keane directed his frustration at the club’s leadership. “I’m more concerned with the appointment and the staff that have come in,” Keane stated, questioning the standards at the club he once led.

While acknowledging the opportunity for Carrick, Keane pointed to his failure to secure promotion with Middlesbrough last season. “You could say he failed there,” Keane noted, adding, “We talk about United being the best of the best, and I don’t see that with this appointment.”

His fiercest criticism was reserved for the sudden return of Jonny Evans to the club as a first-team coach, just weeks after he resigned from a backroom role. “My issue isn’t with Jonny, it’s with the club’s decision-making,” Keane clarified. “He’s got no coaching badges. It’s not as if he’s worked in the academy for years. It just shows the chaos in the background.”

Keane suggested managers are being undermined, predicting the previous boss would one day reveal he was unhappy with decisions imposed from above. When asked if he would accept a similar role, Keane was blunt: “It would probably be no. I don’t want to work with people dictating who your staff are.”

His comments underscore a belief that United’s problems extend far beyond the pitch, casting a shadow over Carrick’s debut in the crucial derby this weekend.
