Nigerian investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo has strongly refuted viral reports suggesting that Afrobeats icon 2Face Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, is battling a severe kidney disease. Instead, she has accused Nollywood stars Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo of fabricating the claims to manipulate public perception.
The Origin of the Rumors
The controversy began when notorious gossip blog Gistlover published a shocking report alleging that 2Baba was not only facing a marital crisis but was also seriously ill. The blog further insinuated that his estranged wife, Annie Idibia, was responsible for his deteriorating health.
However, Olunloyo quickly dismissed the allegations, branding them as a carefully orchestrated distraction. In a fiery video statement, she accused Dikeh and Ojo of using their influence to spread false information, claiming that they are the hidden forces behind Gistlover and have long been stirring up celebrity controversies.
Olunloyo’s Counterclaims
According to Olunloyo, the real reason behind 2Baba and Annie’s troubled marriage is not the singer’s health, but rather Annie’s alleged struggles with drug addiction. She claimed that Annie’s substance abuse issues had spiraled out of control, ultimately leading to their separation.
The journalist further stated that Annie is currently in rehab, undergoing treatment, and being supported by close friends, including media personality Toke Makinwa and singer Tiwa Savage.
