Nigerian Singer Accuses Grammy Winner of Copying His Song, Requests Feature as “Payment”
Nigerian singer Lawal Olalekan Olumo, popularly known as Konga, has publicly called out his colleague Burna Boy, accusing him of lifting lyrics from his music. In a fiery video shared online, the Baby Konga crooner claimed that Burna Boy’s recent diss track aimed at Sophia Egbueje contained lines copied from his own song.
To back his claim, Konga posted side-by-side clips—one of his original track and another of Burna Boy’s—pointing out the similarities. “It’s clear Burna Boy loves my music and vibes,” he said with a mix of frustration and amusement.
But Konga isn’t just looking for an apology—he wants a collaboration. The singer directly asked Burna Boy to feature on his upcoming song Kabakaba, which he also hopes will include Tiwa Savage. “All I’m asking for is a feature. Burna, reply to me—I’ve tagged you,” he said, urging the Last Last hitmaker to reach out.
This isn’t the first time Burna Boy has faced accusations of sampling other artists without credit. Months ago, he made headlines after bringing American singer Toni Braxton on stage following backlash for using her song without prior permission.
Fans are now waiting to see if Burna Boy will respond to Konga’s bold request—or if this will spark another industry debate over originality in Afrobeats.
