Kylian Mbappe Unveiled at Real Madrid in Spectacular Ceremony

French Star Speaks of “Dream” Move in Fluent Spanish at the Bernabeu

Kylian Mbappe opened up about his “dream” move to Real Madrid in fluent Spanish during an emotional presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu. The event, described as “the most spectacular unveiling of a soccer player in history,” marked the arrival of the 25-year-old forward to Los Blancos.

Mbappe, set to become Madrid’s top earner with an annual salary of £12.8 million, completed his medical tests and signed his contract at the club’s training ground in Valdebebas on Tuesday morning. He then made his way to the Bernabeu, where 80,000 fans and numerous club legends, including Zinedine Zidane, celebrated his much-anticipated arrival.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez introduced Mbappe alongside the club’s 15 Champions League trophies. Perez began, “12 years ago, Zizou [Zidane] invited a boy to our training ground, and he is now the star who will help us to succeed in the future. Today we welcome Kylian Mbappe.” Perez added, “Welcome to your home, and congratulations for achieving your dream. I know what this means to you and your family. We saw how your eyes shone when you came here at the age of 13.”

Mbappe, looking overwhelmed, delivered a touching speech in Spanish. “I have dreamed of playing for Real Madrid for years, today my dream has come true and I am particularly happy today,” he said. “It’s an incredible day for me. Since I was a child, I had only one dream, and that was to play for Real Madrid. It means a lot to me to be here. Thank you to the supporters for being here to celebrate this moment with me. I have another dream: to live up to this club, the best in the world. I’m going to give everything, everything I have in me, for this club.”

He also said, “We won guys. We won. I’m here,” hinting at his seven-year association with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain. Mbappe shared insights about his final season at PSG, just a day after his move to Real Madrid was confirmed.

In June last year, Mbappe sent a formal letter to PSG informing them of his decision not to extend his contract beyond 2024. Despite PSG’s positive outlook on contract negotiations, Mbappe’s decision surprised the club. Subsequently, he was excluded from the first-team set-up and left out of their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea following the appointment of Luis Enrique. Eventually, Mbappe returned to help PSG secure another Ligue 1 title with 27 league goals, but he soon announced his departure.

Speaking to reporters in June, Mbappe reflected on his departure from PSG. “I was made to understand that I would no longer play for PSG [after informing them of my desire to leave at the end of the season],” he said. “I was told right to my face, and quite violently, so I was convinced that I wasn’t going to play. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. Without them, I would never have stepped onto the pitch again. That is the truth.”

Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid marks the beginning of a new chapter in his illustrious career, as he aims to live up to the legacy of the club he has long dreamed of joining.
