Lamine Yamal Reportedly “Scared” to Play for Spain

Barcelona’s teenage sensation feared national team duty would worsen his groin injury, leading to a secret medical procedure and withdrawal from squad.

A cloud of fear and controversy surrounds Barcelona’s 18-year-old phenom, Lamine Yamal, after he was dramatically ruled out of the Spanish national team squad amid revelations he was “truly scared” of aggravating a persistent groin injury while on international duty.

According to prominent journalist Josep Pedrerol, the young winger confided in friends and club officials about his anxiety. “They told me that Lamine was scared. Truly scared,” Pedrerol revealed on the show El Chiringuito. Messages from Yamal himself reportedly included the plea: “I’m scared to go to the national team.”

This fear, reportedly fueled by warnings from his inner circle, triggered a swift and secretive medical response. A specialist doctor, who works with Paris Saint-Germain and NBA players, was flown to Barcelona on Monday. He performed a radio frequency treatment on Yamal, a procedure that requires 7-10 days of immediate rest and physiotherapy.

The treatment made travel to the Spanish camp impossible, a development that reportedly “surprised” the national team staff. This incident is the latest in a series of tensions concerning Yamal’s fitness, which was first aggravated while playing for Spain in September.

Despite the physical struggle, Yamal’s prodigious talent remains undeniable. He has still managed an impressive return of six goals and six assists in just 11 competitive matches for Barcelona this season, making his fitness a top priority for the Catalan club.
