Leaked Ballon d’Or List Reveals Yamal as Alleged Winner, but Errors Spark Doubt

Misspelled Names and Scheduling Conflict with PSG Game Cast Shadow on Ceremony

A leaked image claiming to show the results of the 2025 Ballon d’Or has named Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal as the winner, but fans quickly identified glaring errors that have raised suspicions about its authenticity.

The image, shared online by Argentine journalist Pablo Giralt, listed Yamal ahead of PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé in second and teammate Vitinha in third. However, the list contained obvious mistakes, including a misspelling of Kylian Mbappé’s name and an error in Inter Milan’s official title.

The leak comes just hours before the official ceremony in Paris, where the winner will be announced live. France Football’s editor-in-chief, Vincent Garcia, is the only person who knows the result. “I will keep the secret even if it means falling out with some people,” Garcia said ahead of the event.

In an unfortunate scheduling conflict, the ceremony takes place at the same time as PSG’s rescheduled Ligue 1 match against Marseille, which was moved due to expected storms. As a result, most of PSG’s nine nominated players will likely miss the event to play in the crucial league fixture. Only injured players such as Dembélé are expected to attend.

The combination of a questionable leak and the fixture clash has added unexpected drama to what is usually one of football’s most glamorous nights.
