Leroy Sané Rejects Bayern Munich Contract Extension as Talks Collapse

German Winger’s Future in Doubt After Last-Minute Agent Switch and Stalled Negotiations

Leroy Sané has thrown his Bayern Munich future into uncertainty after formally rejecting the club’s contract offer, with negotiations now at a standstill. The 28-year-old winger’s surprise decision comes after a late change in representation to super-agent Pini Zahavi, known for orchestrating high-profile transfers.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the breakdown in talks to Sky Sports, revealing: “We made a fair offer reflecting his importance to the team, but it’s been rejected. The ball is now in Leroy’s court.” The Bavarian club has made clear they won’t improve their proposal despite Sané’s strong second half of the season under new coach Vincent Kompany.

The contract standoff comes at a delicate time for both parties. Sané is coming off his most productive season in Munich (12 goals, 9 assists), finally showing the consistency that had eluded him since his €49m move from Manchester City in 2020. Yet Bayern, facing a summer rebuild after their first trophyless season in over a decade, are determined to maintain financial discipline.

Teammate Joshua Kimmich, who recently committed his own future to Bayern, made a public plea for Sané to stay: “I’ve told him this is where top players belong,” the midfielder told Sky Sports. However, with Zahavi now representing Sané and Bayern refusing to budge, the likelihood of a departure appears to be growing.

The coming days will prove crucial. Without a resolution, Bayern risk losing one of their key attackers for nothing when his contract expires in 2025, while Sané must decide whether to accept Bayern’s terms or pursue what could be the last major contract of his career elsewhere.
