With their veteran star’s contract winding down, the Catalan giants are drawing up a dream shortlist featuring names like Kane, Haaland, and a surprising Bundesliga bargain.
As the era of Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona appears to be entering its final chapters, the club’s sporting directors are already plotting a major overhaul for their attack in the summer of 2026, with a star-studded and intriguing shortlist of potential successors taking shape.
With Lewandowski’s contract set to expire, the pressing question at the Camp Nou is how to replace a goalscoring icon. The club’s dream scenario is a blockbuster move for Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, but executives are realistic about the financial hurdles involved, leading them to consider a range of “bridge” options.
According to club insiders, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane is a leading candidate to fill the void, should he decide to seek a new challenge.

However, Kane is in scintillating form in Germany, recently calling a performance against Borussia Dortmund one of the best of his career, which may convince him to stay put.
This has forced Barcelona to cast a wider net. The list of alternative targets is both ambitious and pragmatic, featuring Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy.
Each option presents a different set of pros and cons. While Vlahovic could arrive on a free transfer, his inconsistent form in Italy raises questions. Alvarez would be a spectacular signing, but the financial commitment remains massive after his £82 million move just two years ago.
Perhaps the most intriguing name is Serhou Guirassy. The Bundesliga striker is seen as a perfect blend of proven quality and financial sensibility, with a reported release clause of just €50 million—a relative bargain in today’s market for a player of his caliber.
In the immediate future, Barcelona’s priority is to secure the long-term future of current winger Ferran Torres, rather than making a panic buy this January. But with Lewandowski unlikely to renew, the wheels are now firmly in motion for what will be one of the most significant—and expensive—transitions in recent club history.
