Liverpool Eye Record-Breaking Move for Newcastle Star Alexander Isak

Swedish Striker Previously Praised Anfield as One of the Toughest Away Grounds

Liverpool are preparing a massive £130 million bid to lure Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak to Anfield, in what could become another British transfer record for the Reds. The Swedish forward, who has previously spoken glowingly about the atmosphere at Liverpool’s home ground, might be tempted by the prospect of competing for major trophies under Arne Slot’s new regime.

Despite only joining Newcastle in 2022, Isak has already made an impression at Anfield, scoring in one of his early appearances there. Now, Liverpool are ready to test Newcastle’s resolve with a blockbuster offer, even after already spending over £200 million this summer. While Isak has not publicly pushed for a move, the allure of Champions League football and title challenges could prove persuasive.

Newcastle, however, have been firm in their stance that key players like Isak, Anthony Gordon, and Bruno Guimarães are not for sale. After a successful season that saw them win a domestic cup and secure a return to Europe’s elite competition, the Magpies are eager to build—not dismantle—their squad. Their interest in PSG’s Hugo Ekitike signals their ambition to strengthen further.

Yet, manager Eddie Howe has stopped short of guaranteeing any player’s future. When asked about Isak in May, he admitted: “I never make those guarantees about any player. It’s not to do with Alex’s future—I’d be foolish to sit here and do anything like that.”

Isak’s own words from last year may give Liverpool hope. Reflecting on his experiences at Anfield, he said: “There are not many places like St James’ Park… but I’d say Anfield is probably up there as well. The atmosphere is really good—it’s probably the toughest away game.”

With the transfer window heating up, Liverpool’s pursuit could become one of the summer’s biggest sagas—if Newcastle are willing to even entertain the idea of losing their star man.
