Liverpool Face Tough Negotiations for Florian Wirtz as Leverkusen Demand Record Fee or Player Swap

Reds See Two Bids Rejected, May Need to Offer Elliott or Quansah to Seal Deal

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz has hit a major stumbling block, with the German club standing firm on their £126 million valuation—forcing the Reds to consider including players in any potential deal.

According to reports, Liverpool have already seen two bids rejected for the highly sought-after German international. Their initial offer of £84 million plus £12.6 million in add-ons was turned down, followed by an improved package worth £109.6 million—which Leverkusen also dismissed.

With negotiations at a standstill, the Premier League side may now have to sweeten the deal by offering one of their own players to bridge the gap. Young stars Harvey Elliott and Jarrell Quansah have emerged as possible bargaining chips, with Leverkusen reportedly admirers of both.

Fernando Carro, Leverkusen’s chief executive, has been clear that the club will not sell Wirtz for anything less than their asking price, insisting they “would never let him leave” below valuation.

If Liverpool are serious about landing the 21-year-old playmaker, they will not only have to shatter their transfer record but also potentially part ways with a promising talent to get the deal over the line.

Will they meet Leverkusen’s demands, or will they be forced to walk away? The coming weeks could prove decisive in one of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas.
