PSG Forward Set for January Exit Amid Interest from Top English Clubs
Liverpool have emerged as strong contenders to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) during the upcoming January transfer window, according to reports.
The 26-year-old French forward, who joined PSG in a €95 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, has struggled to cement a regular starting role this season. Kolo Muani has started only two games in the 2024/25 campaign, scoring twice in 14 total appearances.
Reports from Sky Germany suggest PSG has made the decision to part ways with Kolo Muani this winter, describing his departure as a “done deal.” The club is reportedly exploring options for a loan move with a purchase obligation, aiming to find a suitable buyer for the talented forward.
Liverpool, who currently lead the Premier League table, are said to be particularly keen on acquiring Kolo Muani. However, they are not alone in the race, with interest also coming from Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
Premier League Options
Kolo Muani, who is versatile enough to play as a striker or on the right wing, could be a game-changer for several Premier League sides. Arsenal, for example, may see him as a viable alternative to Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz, offering a blend of aerial prowess and goal-scoring ability that could bolster Mikel Arteta’s attack.
Newcastle United, dealing with a shortage of attacking options due to injuries to Callum Wilson and potential risks to Alexander Isak, might also find Kolo Muani an attractive addition. His ability to play on the right could address the Magpies’ pressing need for depth in that position.
A Return to Germany?
While the Premier League appears to be Kolo Muani’s most likely destination, a return to the Bundesliga hasn’t been ruled out. RB Leipzig is reportedly monitoring the situation closely and could make a move if the conditions align.
A Proven Track Record
Kolo Muani’s stats underline his potential value to any team. In his first season at PSG, he netted 12 goals across all competitions. His 2023/24 season saw him averaging 0.46 goals per 90 minutes, surpassing Premier League forwards like Gabriel Jesus (0.38) and Kai Havertz (0.33). His aerial ability and versatility make him a well-rounded forward capable of fitting into different tactical setups.
As the January transfer window approaches, the competition for Kolo Muani’s signature is expected to intensify. With Liverpool reportedly leading the pack, the next few weeks will determine whether the French forward lands in the Premier League or explores other opportunities.
