Winger’s Goal and Two Assails Seal Vital Win Over Tunisia in Thrilling 3-2 Victory
Ademola Lookman earned a well-deserved Man of the Match honor on Tuesday, delivering a goal and two assists to propel Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a 3-2 win over Tunisia and secure a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations knockout rounds.
The Atalanta winger was the creative heartbeat of the Nigerian side, breaking the deadlock just before halftime. After a string of disallowed goals, Lookman supplied a perfect cross for Victor Osimhen, who headed home to end his scoring drought and give Nigeria a 1-0 lead.

Lookman wasn’t done. Early in the second half, he set up captain Wilfred Ndidi for the midfielder’s first international goal, before capping his own performance with a sharp finish to put Nigeria up 3-0.
“Three points on the board, so it’s a step in the right direction,” Lookman said after receiving his award. “We dominated from the first half to the second half. They had a spell where they scored two goals, but overall we were very good today.”
Though Tunisia mounted a late comeback with goals from Montassar Talbi and Ali Abdi, Nigeria held on to advance to the last 16 for the sixteenth tournament in a row.
Lookman, who now leads the tournament with four goal contributions, made sure to credit the fans. “Keep supporting us, we really need you,” he said. “Keep being behind us.”
His standout performance not only sealed Nigeria’s progression but also stamped his mark as one of the players to watch as the AFCON enters its decisive phase.
