Man City Complete £46m Signing of Dutch Star Reijnders in Midfield Revamp

Netherlands Midfielder Becomes Fourth Summer Signing as Pep Guardiola Reshapes Squad After Trophy-Less Season

Manchester City have bolstered their midfield with the £46.3 million signing of Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, capping off a whirlwind week of transfer activity at the Etihad.

The 26-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal just days after City secured three other signings – Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki (£30.5m), Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri (£31.3m) and Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli. All four arrivals are eligible for December’s Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

“A Dream Come True”
Reijnders arrives after an impressive individual season in Serie A, netting 15 goals despite Milan’s disappointing eighth-place finish. The midfielder replaces the departed Kevin De Bruyne and brings creative flair to Pep Guardiola’s rebuild.

“I’m ecstatic to join one of the world’s biggest clubs with the best coach and facilities,” Reijnders told City’s media channels. “Playing in the Premier League is a dream – so many great Dutch players have thrived here. I can’t wait to meet my teammates and show the fans what I can do.”

Squad Overhaul Continues
The signing continues City’s aggressive recruitment drive following their first trophy-less season since 2017. Director of Football Hugo Viana praised Reijnders’ “energy, composure and creativity,” backing him to flourish under Guardiola’s guidance.

With the Club World Cup opener against Wydad Casablanca on June 18, City’s new-look squad faces immediate tests against Al Ain and Juventus in the group stage. As the transfer window remains open, further reinforcements may yet arrive at the Etihad.

For Reijnders, the move represents a career-defining step. For City, it’s another statement of intent to reclaim their place at football’s summit. As the Dutchman put it: “I want to help keep the success going for years to come.”
