Portuguese Winger, Revitalized Under Former Boss, Emerges as Top Target Amid Expected Rashford & Sancho Exits
Manchester United’s incoming manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to reunite with Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao in a potential £35 million summer move, according to The Sun. With Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford likely departing, the Red Devils are preparing for a major attacking revamp—and the Portuguese flyer is high on their wishlist.
Trincao, who shone with a brace in Portugal’s 5-2 Nations League thrashing of Denmark on Sunday, previously played under Amorim at Sporting. The 25-year-old’s career has rebounded after a rocky spell at Barcelona—where he carried a staggering £400 million release clause—and an underwhelming loan at Wolves. Finding his footing under Amorim in Lisbon, Trincao has flourished as a versatile forward, capable of playing on either wing or centrally.
The Sun notes that Amorim, who initially brought Trincao to Sporting before making his transfer permanent, views the technically gifted winger as an ideal fit for United’s rebuild. With pace, creativity, and a left-footed threat from the right flank, Trincao could offer the attacking spark Erik ten Hag’s side has often lacked this season.
As Old Trafford braces for a summer of change, this potential reunion may signal Amorim’s first major move in the hot seat—and a fresh start for a player finally fulfilling his potential.
